Pittsburgh Pirates reliever Felipe Vazquez was arrested earlier this week on three felonies charges, including statutory sexual assault and unlawful contact with a minor. The investigation into Vazques began on month prior to his arrest after allegations of him having a relationship with at 13 year old girl. Vazquez was also charged in Florida with computer pornography offenses, including solicitation of a child. The now 15 year old girl has reportedly still been communicating with Vazquez through text message, “suggesting they would meet for sex after his baseball season was over.”, according to law enforcement. Vazques was denied bail after an Allegheny County, Pa. judge declared him a flight risk. Pirates president Frank Coonelly, said Major League Baseball’s commissioner’s office will place Vazques on administrative leave, meaning he will not be able to play, but will still receive pay.
